Maye Thomas, an artist on newbie coach Miley Cyrus' team, has opened up about her mindset going into The Voice's famous "Battle Round."

"At the end of the day, right before you go onstage, I just say to myself, 'If I go out there, I have to be undeniable,' you know?" Maye told Reality TV World.

Maye, a 27-year-old from Broken Arrow, OK, is an indie-pop artist living and waitressing in Nashville, TN, all the while hoping to find success in the music industry.

The Voice just might be her ticket to fame, but she had to first make the tough decision between joining Miley or fellow coach Adam Levine's team following her rendition of "Roses" for the "Blind Auditions" phase of the competition. Going into the audition, she "really wanted to pick" Miley.

"I was really hoping that she would turn around for me. Miley just as an artist is super. She's just unapologetic and she knows who she is and she's very loud about that. And I really love that and I'm at this point in my life where I want to be who I am loudly," Maye told reporters during a conference call.

Maye therefore believes Miley is "the perfect coach" for her.

"Especially being on this kind of platform, I want to have somebody guiding me that is making sure that I'm being true to myself and I just was hoping that she would turn because I wanted that kind of coaching," she explained.

Maye will have to win Miley over once again when she performs against a teammate in the upcoming "Battle Round." It's always a surprise to the contestants whom they are paired up with.

When Reality TV World asked Maye whether she feels the coaches potentially favor artists who turn three or four chairs around in the Blinds, she admitted, "It does go through your head, like, 'I wonder if the person that I'm going against did get more chairs than me.'"

"You get to the point where you're kind of freaking out," she added.

Maye, however, said all she can do is give every performance her absolute best.

"If you give it your all and you go out there and you're undeniable, then you're going to make it on the other side," the singer insisted.

"And so, everyone that's on the show is absolutely incredible, and the hugs that you see people give each other after everything are so genuine. Because we love each other so much! So, it's so fun."
