The network has announced it has added 10 more Season 2 episodes to Love After Lockup's original 14-episode second season, raising the season count to 24 episodes total.

While the additional Love After Lockup episodes (which WE tv is calling "Season 2B") will be considered Season 2 episodes, they will not feature the six couples who are appearing in Season 2's currently-airing 14 initial episodes (which WE tv is now calling "Season 2A").

Instead, Season 2B will follow a completely new group of couples, a show publicist confirmed to Reality TV World on Wednesday.

Season 2B will begin airing on WE tv this spring, however the network did not immediately reply to a request to clarify whether the Season 2B episodes will begin airing immediately after Season 2A's seven remaining episodes or only sometime later in the spring.

Given they will feature a new cast, why the network is not just calling the 10 additional episodes Season 3 is also unclear.

However, like Love After Lockup's prior episodes, the new episodes will feature couples who met and fell in love online while one of them was behind bars making the complicated transition to "love on the outside" and uniting for the first time outside of prison after years of supervised visits.

"We could not be more thrilled with the organic growth that Love After Lockup continues to deliver, week after week, as more viewers find and connect with the real stories in the show," WE tv president Marc Juris said in a statement.

"We knew we had a compelling concept with this series, and to see viewers respond like this is beyond gratifying."

Juris added, "This is a challenging show to produce, but the results that wind up on screen are worth it and we are excited to extend this second season with another 10 episodes of unforgettable stories, characters and real-life drama."
