After recently teasing a return to reality TV on social media -- which implied her family would be involved -- Shannon confirmed Tuesday she's got a new project in the works and only Thompson will be joining her.

"It was our last resort," Shannon told People of her decision to appear on Marriage Boot Camp. "I feel like he had cheated for quite some time, and I needed some answers. It was either you go here or we end our 11 years."

Shannon said she hopes the show can repair her on-again, off-again relationship of almost 11 years with Thompson, as the show offers intense therapy and advice to help couples determine whether they'd like to make things work or split up.

"We're doing pretty good, and we're getting along, but we still live in two separate households because we have to still work on things," Shannon explained. "We spend weekends together. It's a work in progress, and it's not going to happen overnight."

The former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars will reportedly be joining fellow reality personalities Sean Lowe and his wife Catherine Giudici from The Bachelor, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Benzino and Althea Heart, Basketball Wives: LA's Sunday Carter, and Cedric and Sarah Oliver and Jimmy "Inkman" Coney from the Bad Girls Club.

Sources told TMZ in late January that Shannon and Thompson, who never officially got married, were given the option to appear on one of two reality shows -- with one of them being Marriage Boot Camp. Shannon expressed interest in the opportunity at the time and planned to meet with producers.

Shannon then reportedly dated convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, which sparked so much controversy Here Comes Honey Boo Boo got canceled in October 2014. After Shannon swore she wasn't romantically involved with McDaniel, she tried to make things work with Thompson again.

When asked about the scandal, Shannon declined comment but hinted to People the issues would be addressed in her upcoming appearance on the show.
