Jon Gosselin admits his nonexistent relationship with ex-wife Kate Gosselin has put a serious strain on his ability to parent.

The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star conducted an interview with Steve Harvey for a "Where Are They Now?" segment set to air January 25 on The Steve Harvey Show. In preview clips, Jon discusses his 2009 divorce from Kate and how it's negatively impacted his relationship with their eight children ever since.

For starters, Jon has no control over visitation and does not co-parent with Kate at all, although he'd like to someday. His custody arrangement currently allows him to see his children once a week for dinner and then every other weekend from Friday to Monday.

"Most of the time I get four [kids]. I haven't seen all of my kids together in about three years. I only get what I get," John told Harvey.

"So with my custody, I do logistics, so I have to go to the house and get the kids or I have to go to the bus stop and get the kids. So, I pull to the gate, and whoever comes down the driveway, that's who I get. I'm not privy to any information; I don't know who I'm going to get."

With that, Jon offered up a startling detail.

"I haven't seen my son in a year and a half. I don't know why. I can't talk to him. I have no communication," Jon revealed, adding that he's gotten no reason or explanation from Kate as to why. "It's very frustrating. I'm more frustrated than angry."

Jon, 38, feels guilty about how the kids are "stuck in the middle" between himself and Kate, 40.

"We don't talk. Zero [communication]. Court -- we talk in court," he said.

Jon and Kate are parents to 14-year-old twins Cara and Mady and 11-year-old sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Joel, Aaden and Alexis.

One year after Jon's divorce from Kate was finalized in December 2009, TLC sued Jon for breach of contract.

"The network tried to keep us together for the benefit of the show, so I quit. I was not going to have my divorce filmed. I'm not having it aired out for the public's consumption and I'm not having re-runs so my children can keep on watching the demise of their parents. So I just took a moral stance vs. a business stance," Jon said on The Steve Harvey Show.

"I lost everything. I lost all my money... The network sided with my ex-wife. They paid for her divorce attorneys, everything. And I just stood like a lone wolf."

Jon explained his decision paid off because his dirty laundry didn't really surface in the media until the divorce was "completely over." However, while Kate was filming Kate Plus 8, Jon lost all his public relations with TLC and therefore got the brunt of bad press. Jon was dubbed a womanizer and party animal.

Jon added that TLC backed up Kate in everything she said about him, even when it was gossip. Jon insisted they'd "hammer out the tabloids" yet he had no outlet from which to defend himself.

A source close to Kate told People, "As always, Kate has no desire to comment on Jon's life or his choices. She will never comment on the father of her children."
