Heidi Montag has joined husband Spencer Pratt in firing back at her mom over harsh comments she made about The Hills stars' impromptu wedding.

"I want to make it very clear to family, friends and fans that the decision to marry Spencer was very much mine. It was a beautiful day, and I've never been happier," Montag told Us Weekly in a Thursday report. "For someone who wasn't even there to suggest otherwise is extremely disappointing."

Egelhoff previously said she gives Montag and Pratt's marriage -- which occurred in Cabo San Lucas on November 20 -- "six months" and called it the "biggest mistake Heidi's ever made." She added Montag's relationship with Pratt has caused her own relationship with her daughter "to decline."

Egelhoff also implied Pratt may have gone so far as to drug Montag so she would go through with the wedding ceremony and said her new son-in-law is "manipulative" and "seems to have power over Heidi."

The 15-minute wedding ceremony between Montag and Pratt took place at a resort chapel with no family members or friends present after Pratt allegedly initially raised the idea as a joke.

Following the wedding, Pratt said avoiding the drama of having family  -- and particularly Egelhoff -- attending the ceremony had meant a lot to him and allowed him to focus solely on Montag instead of being distracted.

Less than a week after the ceremony, MTV announced footage from it will air on an upcoming The Hills episode.

"I look forward to everyone seeing the footage of our time in Mexico on The Hills, so they can see for themselves what a joyous occasion it was," Montag told Us.
