Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, her husband of more than eight years, have revealed they have a baby on the way.

Spencer, 33, found out the big news waking up one morning in their Santa Barbara beach house to Heidi "just standing there," Us Weekly reported, adding that he couldn't even describe the look on Heidi's face in that moment.

"She was literally glowing," Spencer said of the 30-year-old former The Hills star. "I thought she was about to say she made muffins or banana bread."

"Heidi said, 'I'm pregnant,'" continued the dad-to-be. "I was like, 'Whoa, that's way more exciting than banana bread!'"

Heidi is reportedly 12 weeks along, and the baby is due October 19. The former reality TV star admitted she was so "overwhelmed" by the positive pregnancy test that she "started crying" and Spencer "embraced" her.

"I have never been more excited," noted the blonde beauty. "The reality is sinking in that we are going to have a child! I've read every pregnancy book, and now I realize I don't know anything."

"Heidi has wanted to be a mom since the day I met her," Spencer told Us. "She has planned for and thought about this... It's just the click-click-click of the roller coaster going up. That's how I feel right now."

Heidi apparently wanted to have a child three years ago but Spencer was "a little hesitant" and the couple became very busy.

"One thing after another came up. We had work obligations, like Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K., which I did not want to be pregnant for. I'm actually really thankful we waited. I thought I was ready in my twenties, but with everything we had going on, it just wouldn't have been a good situation for us," Heidi revealed to the magazine.

Spencer agreed with his wife's sentiment, saying he thinks he's ready for a child -- although he knows Heidi is ready.

"It might never be the perfect time, so we said, 'Let's move forward.' We had all these conversations. We're older, we have more life experience. Nothing is holding us back," explained Heidi, who got engaged to Spencer in May 2007. "I've been with the love of my life for 10 years, and now we're starting our own family."

The mom-to-be felt the need to take a pregnancy test that memorable morning because she felt nauseous.

"So I took a pregnancy test. I was so shocked; Spencer wasn't. He was so sure it would happen right away. He was like, 'You're going to get pregnant the first time we try... It happened the first month!" Heidi gushed.

"I've had really bad morning sickness since the beginning, but I've never been so happy to feel so sick! Every time I feel awful, I remember why and I'm just euphoric. It's so fulfilling, and I'm mostly just grateful."

Heidi is also experiencing food cravings. Her snacks of choice? Salt-and-vinegar potato chips as well as organic Sour Patch Kids!"

Spencer admitted he needs to step up to the plate more to pamper his pregnant wife, including giving her massages her and making her "the best frozen dinner" possible. "I'm a fish-stick master chef," he joked.

The couple -- who also previously appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap, Marriage Boot Camp and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! -- hasn't learned the sex of the baby yet, but Heidi confessed she's "hoping for a boy" because she has "always wanted a boy first."

"Notice she says first," Spencer quipped.

"Yep. First! I'd love to have a son and for the Pratt name to continue," Heidi noted.
