Fox has announced that it will debut So You Think You Can Dance, a new reality series that will search for America's best dancer, on Wednesday, July 20 at 8PM ET/PT with a two-hour premiere.

One of three new reality shows that Fox will be airing this summer, So You Think You Can Dance will feature a "grueling" 12-week competition among America's best undiscovered dancing talent.

If the show sounds like American Idol: The Dance Edition, there's a good reason for that -- So You Think You Can Dance was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, Idol's executive producers. Idol's 19 TV Ltd. and Dick Clark Productions, the production company behind American Bandstand, will produce the series.

Fox no doubt hopes that the series will work out better than the last summer series created by American Idol's producers -- Summer 2003's failed American Juniors series.
