Just as with this summer's Trading Spouses/Wife Swap controversy, Fox again beat ABC to the airwaves with its Nanny 911 child rearing knockoff of ABC's upcoming Supernanny. And once again, it looks like the decision appears to have paid off for Fox.

Premiering Wednesday, November 3 at 9PM ET/PT, the hour-long Nanny 911 drew 8.6 million overall viewers and a 3.8/9 rating/share in the key Adults 18-49 demographic -- numbers that might be unimpressive for a NBC or CBS series but a performance that represented an impressive 46% increase over its sitcom lead-ins on the struggling Fox network.

Airing in a highly competitive time period versus three established hits (NBC's The West Wing, ABC's The Bachelor, and CBS's The King Of Queens) and two of the season's most critically-praised series (UPN's Kevin Hill and The WB's Jack & Bobby), Nanny 911 managed to win its time period among Adults 18-34, Women 18-34, Persons 12-34, and Teens.

Nanny 911 posted the Fox's biggest regular-scheduled entertainment ratings in the time period since August 4, 2004 and also outdelivered the network's prior season average in the time period (excluding sports) by 58% among Adults 18-49 (3.8/9 vs. 2.4/6).

Nanny 911 ranked among the six networks’ Top Twenty primetime programs (out of 112) of the week ending November 7 among Persons 12-34 (tied for 15th) and in the Top Ten in Teens (7th).
