Amber competed on Season 8 of Big Brother in 2007 and placed seventh.
She made it to the jury without winning Head of Household or a Power of Veto, a distinction that made her season especially unusual.
During her time in the house, Amber often became emotional.
Her fellow houseguests nicknamed her "Whamber." She also grew close to her fellow BB houseguests Jameka Cameron and Dustin Erikstrup.
Julie Chen Moonves, who hosted Amber's season, paid tribute to her on Instagram after TMZ reported her death.
The longtime Big Brother host shared a clip from Amber's final moments on the show and wrote, "Rest in Peace Amber."
"Hard to believe, but I know you are back in our eternal home with our Creator," Julie continued.
"Thank you for your heart and honesty. We will remember you with love."
Dick Donato, who won Big Brother Season 8, also remembered Amber in a post on X.
"This is a shame," Dick wrote.

Amber's death comes eight years after the death of her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, who was 18.
Lexi was found dead in Ohio in January 2018. The Stark County Coroner's Office told Fox News at the time that Lexi's death was being investigated as a suicide. She was the fourth student from her high school to die by suicide in a six-month period.

Amber was a 27-year-old cocktail waitress from Las Vegas, NV, when she competed on Big Brother nearly two decades ago.
Prior to her eviction on Day 62, Amber said on an episode, "I'm going to try not to cry. I just want to tell you guys when I got picked to be a houseguest and come into this house, I had no idea it was going to be as hard as it is."
She continued, "I also didn't know I was going to build such unique, rare relationships with each and everyone of you guys. I would love to stay here, but if it's in God's plans for me to go, then I go today. I just want you to know I hold nothing against you guys."
Once outside the Big Brother house, Julie asked Amber why she thought she had been eliminated from the game.

"I think I was evicted because honestly nobody wants to be sitting next to me in the Final 2," Amber said.
"I have really good relationships with everyone. I think they were nervous that had I stayed, the numbers would have stayed on me and Jameka's side and Jessica. They just felt me as a threat. I understand it's a game. It sucks but it is what it is."
