Jessica Sierra made news this weekend for all the wrong reasons, as the former American Idol fourth-season finalist was reportedly arrested on Sunday after she smashed a glass over a man's head at a South Tampa, FL cafe and cocaine was subsequently found in her purse.

The 21-year-old Tampa, FL-native was arrested around 2AM Sunday morning and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a detention facility, Tampa Bay's Fox 13 News reported Sunday.  Following a night of partying with friends at Hyde Park Cafe in Tampa, the fourth season American Idol tenth-place finisher was arrested after police claimed she used a cocktail glass as a weapon, breaking it over a man's head and causing a gash above his eye.

"Officers were able to talk to the victim and the suspect, and discovered they had some sort of heated exchange and at some point Jessica Sierra threw a cocktail glass at the victim," Tampa Police Department Public Information Officer Andrea Davis told Fox 13 News.

Despite being unsure what started the fight, "sources" told Fox 13 the man might have spit on Sierra, aggravating the former Idol finalist enough for her to take action.  Apparently she didn't calm down once police became involved either.

"Sierra was not cooperative with police, she was belligerent, kicking at back window when she was placed in the patrol car, and warned several times if she didn't stop kicking, she would be placed in leg constraints," Davis told Fox 13.  "At that time, she did settle down."

She might have calmed a bit, but the problems didn't stop there for Sierra, as once she was taken to Hillsborough County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deputies claimed they found cocaine in her purse.  This led to the second and third charges of possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.  She was released Sunday morning on an $11,500 bond, according to Fox 13.

Sierra auditioned in Orlando, FL for Idol's fourth season and made it through Hollywood Week and the semifinals, landing a spot in the Top 12.  Despite being able to show-off her country roots by performing such songs as "On the Side of Angels" by LeAnn Rimes, Sierra was eventually the third finalist eliminated from Idol's fourth season.

"I met a lot of people throughout the tour that have offered to help me out and stuff, and I have some things going on in Nashville that are fabulous," Sierra told Fox 13 in a previous interview.

However according to Fox 13, Sierra has "struggled" to get a recording contract and has been working at a South Tampa Hooters.  According to Sierra's charge report from the Sunday arrest, she's currently "self employed" as a singer.
