Daughtry will appear on "Idol's" May 6 results show, where he will debut his new song, "No Surprise," from his still-untitled second album, MTV reported Friday.

The band Daughtry is still finishing the album, which is due out July 14 as a follow-up to its Grammy award-winning 2006, quadruple-platinum debut, the music channel said.

"'American Idol' fans have been so loyal to this band, we wanted to give them the first listen to our new single," Daughtry said a statement announcing the new album. The singer also revealed via Twitter that he co-wrote "No Surprise" with his friend Chad Kroeger, lead singer of the group Nickelback.

The band has been on the road for two years since its debut, which became the fastest-selling debut rock album in history.
