The dreadlocked 21-year-old first announced he had inked a deal with Atlantic Records during a recent interview with Billboard.com.

"I've found a home at Atlantic Records," he told Billboard.  "We're preparing to put an album together and hopefully get it out by summertime.  That's the goal."

Castro was the fourth-place finisher during Idol's seventh season last spring.  His most memorable Idol performance was of the Leonard Cohen-penned "Hallelujah," which he subsequently re-recorded for inclusion on the Amar A Morir soundtrack.

Castro is currently working on his debut album, which will include collaborations with new Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and Grammy Award-winning producer John Fields, and songwriters Martin Terefe, Sacha Skarbek, Guy Chambers, and Jason Reeves.
