The former The X Factor judge was rushed to a hospital's emergency room near Los Angeles on Tuesday because she was suffering from flu-like symptoms such as difficulty breathing, E! News reported.

To calm the fears of worried fans everywhere, Lovato, a 22-year-old pop star, was reportedly examined at the medical center and treated for a few hours with antibiotics and other medications.

"She returned home soon after and is feeling much better today," the singer's representative told E! News on Wednesday without confirming Lovato's medical diagnosis.

Lovato served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor's second and third seasons. Fox announced in February 2014 the network had decided to cancel the reality singing competition created by Simon Cowell due to disappointing ratings.
