Dancing with the Stars eliminated actor Jesse Metcalfe and his professional partner Sharna Burgess after the 12 remaining couples of Season 29 each took the stage and performed a new dance inspired by the 1980s during Monday night's episode on ABC.

The actor and Sharna landed in the bottom-two couples along with former NFL football player Vernon Davis and partner Peta Murgatroyd based on the combination of judges' scores and home-viewer votes cast live as Dancing with the Stars aired in the Eastern and Central time zones on Monday night.

Dancing with the Stars judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli were then able to vote to save one of the bottom-two couples from elimination.

Bruno voted to save Vernon and Peta and then Carrie Ann voted to save Vernon and Peta. Derek revealed he would have voted the same way if he had to cast a tiebreaker vote, so Jesse and Sharna sent packing.

In regards to Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe's ouster last week, Dancing with the Stars host Tyra Banks clarified at the beginning of the broadcast that all votes had been counted and the correct bottom-couples had been named; however, a technical error behind the scenes caused the information on Tyra's cue cards to be incorrect.

Monday night's Dancing with the Stars episode featured each of the 12 couples taking the stage with one dance for 80s nights -- and figure skater and Olympic medalist Johnny Weir topped the judges' leaderboard in first place with his partner Britt Stewart.

Johnny and Britt received 29 out of 30 possible judges' points for a contemporary routine.

On their heels were Season 11 The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe and partner Artem Chigvintsev with 27 points for their tango routine.

Third place at 26 points was a tie between Catfish creator and host Nev Schulman and partner Jenna Johnson as well as CHEER head coach Monica Aldama and partner Val Chmerkovskiy.
