Celebrity Big Brother's third season premiered with former UFC champion Miesha Tate winning Head of Household and host Julie Chen teasing a big game-changing power during Wednesday night's episode on CBS.
The majority of Celebrity Big Brother's Season 3 premiere featured 11 celebrities moving into the BB house and getting to know each other.
In addition to Miesha, the female celebrity houseguests competing for $250,000 this season are model and former The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey, actress and former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp, actress and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, and Olympic medalist Mirai Nagasu.
After getting settled in the house, the first Head of Household competition commenced.
First, the celebrities walked a runway dressed in comical BB designer fashions from head to toe and made their way into the first-ever "Winter BB Gala."
Julie also asked for a volunteer "Master of Ceremonies," who would host the competition but be forced to sit out of the action and give up guaranteed safety for the week.
After some initial hesitation, Todd volunteered for the position.
Julie then explained to the participating celebrities that for the competition, they must climb onto swings, where they would be lifted up into the air.
The celebrities had to hold onto faux champagne bottles "for dear life," according to Julie, because the swings had a mind of their own and photographers surrounded them, ready to snap a picture at any moment.
"Fall off, and you are eliminated. The last houseguest hanging on will be crowned the first Head of Household of the season."
Teddi knew winning the first HoH competition could put a target on her back, but she decided to fight hard.
After one minute and 26 seconds, Chris Kattan -- who said he really wanted to win HoH -- was the first person to drop, and then Cynthia dropped at one minute and 56 seconds.
The celebrities were doused with cold snow and gold caviar.
Mirai looked steady throughout the competition, proving to be a physical threat, but Lamar's legs were shaking violently.
"I'm used to popping bottles of champagne after winning [an NBA] championship or after the club, you know, not for holding on for my dear life while having big feet in stirrups," Lamar joked.
Shanna fell off her swing in four minutes and 35 seconds, and then Lamar dropped after four minutes and 39 seconds. Chris Kirkpatrick dropped next after holding on for six minutes and 25 seconds. He said he let down his inner Big Brother fan.
Once crackers fell on the group, Carson was out after nine minutes and 50 seconds because he didn't want to be "a show off."
"When I was preparing for the Olympics, every waking moment was spent training, but no amount of training could prepare me for this. There is no way I am dropping," Mirai said.
Confetti also filled the air, which caused Mirai to lose her footing and then slip down after 13 minutes and 57 seconds.
Todrick asked Miesha not to put him on the chopping block, and so she agreed and he was eliminated at 16 minutes and 10 seconds.
The competition therefore came down to Miesha and Teddi, who also asked Miesha if they could make a deal. However, Miesha didn't want to make promises she couldn't keep, and so she did not promise Teddi that she would keep her off the block.
Teddi had nothing left in her regardless, and so she finished in second place and assumed she'd be one of Miesha's targets.
Miesha therefore became the season's first Head of Household.
At the end of the competition, Julie announced a big season twist would soon be unleashed in the house.
"I cannot tell you what it is, but I can tell you that it's inside "The Gala Gift," Julie said, adding how the blue gift box "will be a blessing to one and a curse to another."
Julie also announced during the episode there will be two eviction ceremonies per week, with one celebrity going home at each eviction, making for a very fast Celebrity Big Brother game.
