Catelynn Lowell may have given her own baby girl up for adoption during her teen years to give the child a better life, but the 20-year-old Teen Mom star is now ready to adopt a child herself for the same reason.

Lowell has promised to legally take care of her own six-year-old brother Nicholas if their mother April Baltierra, who is a struggling alcoholic, doesn't provide a safe household for him to grow up in, In Touch Weekly reported.

"If my mom derails again, I will step in and adopt my brother," Lowell told In Touch.

"I'm not gonna let my brother get harmed, and we wouldn't let him go to foster care if things get crazy. He would come and live with us. If I noticed him being neglected, I would step in -- no question."

The reality TV star insisted she wants a healthy and happy childhood for her little brother considering she was robbed of one at a very early age due to Baltierra's addiction. Lowell reportedly said she recalls taking care of her mother when she was precisely Nicholas' age.

"I pretty much saw my mom drunk almost every day. I had to grow up really fast," she added.

However, Baltierra -- who had a problem with drugs in her past and got into a series of bad relationships with men after her husband Butch went to jail -- is reportedly claiming she's currently sober and doing everything in her power to change her life for the better.

While Lowell is receptive to the idea of her mom recovering, the Teen Mom star admitted she can't help but be skeptical.

"I know that my mom loves her children. But when it comes to addict parents, sometimes they love their drug or their alcohol more than they love their children," Lowell told In Touch.
