Carrie Underwood walked away a big winner from the 2014 American Music Awards, but Pharrell Williams -- well, he lost miserably.

Underwood, who won American Idol's fourth season, won the award for "Favorite Female Artist -- Country" during Sunday night's show at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old country singer beat out fellow nominees Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves for the honor. Lambert, 30, was a first-season Nashville Star finalist. Musgraves, 26, appeared on the fifth season of Nashville Star in 2007 and only finished in seventh place.

Lambert's husband Blake Shelton, who has starred on The Voice since its inaugural season, lost the "Favorite Male Artist -- Country" award to Luke Bryan. Jason Aldean had also been nominated.

Williams, a current newbie coach on The Voice, was nominated for four awards but unfortunately walked away with nothing.

Williams lost "Favorite Male Artist -- Pop/Rock" to Sam Smith, "Single of the Year" to Katy Perry featuring Juicy J, "Favorite Male Artist -- Soul/R&B" to John Legend, and "Favorite Album -- Soul/R&B" to Beyonce for her self-titled album.
