Bret Michaels may have to give dating on reality TV another shot considering his love life away from the cameras isn't working out too well either.

"Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters," Michaels' representative told People.
Michaels, 49, had proposed to his on-again, off-again girlfriend of 16 years at the time during the December 2010 finale broadcast of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It -- the rocker's most recent VH1 docu-reality series -- when he gave Gibson, 41, a recycled "promise ring" she had worn earlier that same year.
In July 2010, the couple had labeled the sparkler "a friendship ring with benefits," according to Michaels, who had viewed their relationship as a "work in progress."
Michaels and Gibson are parents to 12-year-old Raine Elizabeth and seven-year-old Jorja Bleu.
