Shelton, a 39-year-old country music star, is a great man for the job considering his hilarious sense of humor and big-kid personality. Shelton is known for constantly teasing Adam Levine on The Voice while also serving as a great mentor to young artists.

"I've been on countless stages throughout my life, but none have promised the madness, excitement and endless slime as Nick's Kids' Choice Awards, which is undoubtedly the ultimate party for kids," Shelton said in a statement obtained by People.

"There is only one team here, and it's Team Kids' Choice so bring it on Nickelodeon!"

A photo has been released of Shelton sitting in his big red The Voice chair with his entire body covered in green slime. He threw his hands into the air and had a huge smile across his face.

The announcement of Shelton's new gig was made on NBC's Today show Monday morning.

"My agent called and was like, 'Man, you know, is there anything that you can think of that you'd want to do?' And I actually had been thinking, 'I want to host those Kids' Choice Awards!' And she was like, 'Uh, OK...' It's fun. And I want to get slimed!" Shelton said on the show.

Nickelodeon's 2016 Kids' Choice Awards will be airing live on March 12, 2016. Nick Jonas hosted the awards show last year.

Shelton has a decent amount of presenting experience, as he previously co-hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards with fellow country singer Reba McEntire from 2011 and 2012 and then with Luke Bryan every year since. Shelton also hosted Saturday Night Live this past January.

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9PM ET/PT on NBC.
