Big Brother alum Makensy Manbeck has confirmed that her relationship with Matt Hardeman is over.

Makensy, 23, took to Instagram Stories on October 17 to announce that she and Matt have broken up.

"I want to be very open with y'all, just as I've been over the past year while sharing my life. Matt and I are no longer together," Makensy wrote in a statement.

"And I want to make it 100% clear, no one cheated. We are normal people who spent great time together that sadly came to an end."

Makensy went on to insist that no love is lost between them.

"I loved Matt very much, and I still do. He is a big part of my life. I am truly grateful that God crossed our paths, even if it wasn't for forever," Makensy explained.

"I know many of you were invested in us, and I can’t thank you enough for your support through the past year. All I ask moving forward is that you continue to support and please be kind."

Makensy is apparently still hurting from the split, writing, "I loved him and our relationship deeply, and this will be a long road of healing for me. I will do my best to stay present with y'all through it all though."

Makensy concluded, "Thank you for understanding and for always supporting me. Love y'all."

Matt subsequently posted a video on Instagram complaining about how gossip and rumors were starting to "swell up" and he's choosing to take the high road when it comes to criticism and backlash.

"Character matters and character wins in the end. Gossip and slander and negativity, it burns hot and then it dries up and all that will be left is the person that you really are -- but it's only if you respond well," Matt said.

Matt added how he has chosen to trust God and allow Him to fight these battles.

Before Makensy confirmed the pair's breakup, TMZ had reported that Makensy and Matt had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The report prompted speculation Makensy and Matt had parted ways, and possibly on very bad terms.

Makensy and Matt had announced they were officially dating Matt in early December 2024.

"In case the soft launches weren't enough, here's a hard launch," the couple wrote in a joint post, referencing their previous subtle attempts to show fans they were an item.

Makensy and Matt set their post to "Yours" by Russell Dickerson, and they added the following hashtags: "#bb26 #bbmj #bbmatt #bigbrother #cbs #showmance #hardlaunch #relationships #mm @bigbrothercbs."

Matt also gushed of Makensy at the time via Instagram Stories, "Hiding my feelings for this girl was just getting old... Worth the wait."

The pair had shared photos of them kissing, embracing and taking selfies. A video also showed Matt giving Makensy a flower as they enjoyed time outside together.

Matt and Makensy had a flirtatious banter when they competed on Big Brother's 26th season in 2024, and they teamed up as allies in a "Barber Shop" alliance.

Following a dispute with the season's first Head of Household, Angela Murray, Matt was evicted from the Big Brother house, leaving Makensy crying in the house and missing him.

Following his July 2024 eviction from Big Brother, Matt said his flirtation with Makensy "absolutely" could have turned into a showmance had he stayed in the game longer during an interview with Us Weekly.

"I think me and Makensy, on paper, are like peas and carrots," Matt gushed to the magazine.

"We even found out we were almost at the same concert days before we both entered into this [Big Brother casting] process and experience. Both of our lives align, our values and what we want."

The sales representative from Georgia therefore teased, "I don't think our story's over."

Makensy made it all the way to Big Brother's Season 26 finale in October 2024. She won the final Head of Household competition and chose to take Chelsie Baham to the end, but Chelsie ended up winning in a unanimous 7-0 jury vote.

When Matt and Makensy were in the Big Brother house together, they slept in beds that were right next to each other, and the pair was often caught on-camera talking late into the night.

Makensy shared in the Diary Room how Matt was "sweet and kind," and she said she loved getting to know him better. Makensy even teased viewers that they should "stay tuned" to see what could happen next.

Makensy and Matt, however, didn't get a chance to spark a love connection in the Big Brother house given Matt was the first person evicted through an 8-3 vote instead of his pal Kenney Kelley.

When Matt exited the Big Brother house, Makensy -- who has "America's Veto" superpower that she briefly considered using on Matt -- broke down into tears and hugged her friend Leah Peters for comfort.

Angela was essentially responsible for Matt's eviction, and so Makensy planned to gun for her as soon as possible.

Angela had accused Matt of "aggressively" verbally "threatening" her, and she also lashed out at Matt calling him "Crazy Eyes" in front of the whole house when Matt didn't feel he had done anything wrong.

Makensy revealed to the cameras how she was going to fight hard and seek revenge on Angela and hopefully send her packing.

"I want to make it right for Matt," Makensy shared with the Big Brother cameras.
