Bachelor in Paradise has turned out to be something viewers hadn't seen coming.

ABC has revealed a surprising twist in that Bachelor in Paradise will feature 25 former bachelors and bachelorettes, which is over a dozen more contestants than previously disclosed.

Bachelor in Paradise, which premieres on Monday, August 4 at 8PM ET/PT, will take place in Tulum, Mexico instead of the usual Los Angeles mansion. All of the contestants will be looking to get a second chance at finding love over the course of seven weeks with the group changing and evolving throughout the course of the season. Chris Harrison will resume his role as host.

Bachelor in Paradise will begin with 14 former The Bachelor and The Bachelorette cast members, eight women and only six men, arriving at the private beach in Tulum.

During the season's first Rose Ceremony, the six men will each be given a rose to hand out to one woman whom they'd like to spend more time getting to know. With an uneven number of bachelors and bachelorettes in the group, two women will be left without a rose and therefore sent home immediately.

Just as potential couples begin forming, Episode 2 will feature two new men arriving to the beach. For seven weeks, each episode will alternate between two new men or two new women joining the cast. The switch-ups may cause initial relationships to crumble and new relationships to blossom. Every week, the two contestants who fail to receive a rose will be forced to leave paradise.

According to the network, Bachelor in Paradise will allow its bachelors and bachelorettes to "explore new relationships, fall madly in love and suffer unexpected heartbreak. The romantic dating series will feature new twists, shocking surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history, plus all the usual romance, drama and tears."
