Bachelor in Paradise participant Kirk DeWindt ended a serious relationship within a month of leaving to film the show, but claims he was in Mexico for -- yup, you guessed it -- "the right reason."

"I was recently single, so the timing was right," DeWindt told E! News after taping Bachelor in Paradise's second season. "And friends of mine that had done the show in the past said they had a really good experience -- probably their best experience with The Bachelor family. So for me, it was easy."

DeWindt, 31, said he was only interested in finding a relationship in Paradise that would be worth pursuing outside of the show.

"I'm definitely at the point in my life where I'm looking for something serious. So I definitely wasn't coming here to, like, screw around and makeout with a bunch of girls and then go home empty-handed," he explained.

DeWindt was one of the first guys to show up on Day 1, and he revealed whether he found that to be an advantage or disadvantage.

"When thinking about the experience, I think, 'The more time, the better,' so I think coming in the beginning is only a good thing. Heaven forbid I have to wait around for more pretty girls to show up, you know what I mean? It could be worse," the reality TV star laughed.

DeWindt's comments suggest things might've worked out between himself and Carly Waddell. The couple hit it off on the very first day of Bachelor in Paradise, and they were the first pair to makeout on the island. Both DeWindt and Waddell seemed smitten with one another in the first couple of episodes, especially due to similar sense of humors.

After competing on The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, and now Bachelor in Paradise, DeWindt confessed Paradise was his best experience overall. However, he said all three shows were "so close" in terms of how much he enjoyed himself.

Bachelor in Paradise airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC. The Monday night episodes are followed by a new hour-long After Paradise aftershow hosted by Chris Harrison.
