Bachelor in Paradise couple Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski are apparently happy and going strong together after their memorably awkward and emotional reunion on Bachelor in Paradise's sixth-season reunion.

Katie and Chris, who got engaged on Bachelor in Paradise's sixth-season finale that taped in late June, reunited on August 27 and provided fans with an update on their relationship for a segment that aired during the September finale on ABC.

Katie was in tears during the reunion claiming Chris needed to put more effort into their relationship, and Chris appeared somewhat cold and disconnected.

Since their engagement was seemingly on shaky ground, Katie felt the need to tell her fans a couple of days later she and Chris were doing just fine and were on the path to being very happy with each other.

So where does the engaged couple stand now, weeks later?

"We are doing so great now and so I'm happy," Katie told E! News. "That totally was a growing and turning point for our relationship."

Katie and Chris' segment on Bachelor in Paradise reunion was brutal and hard to watch.

Katie cried about the fact she had been giving her relationship every last ounce of her energy while Chris allegedly failed to communicate his feelings and left her feeling insecure and vulnerable.

Although the pair talked things out in front of an audience and announced they were still engaged on, Katie and Chris quietly fought outside the studio afterwards -- and a "blindsided" Chris ended up walking away from Katie, seemingly angry she had aired out their dirty laundry.

"It was what it was. It was real, it was honest. I have no regrets," Katie shared.

"It's different to see yourself in that environment, but we've always been growing. Not just the taping of it but also the showing of [the episode]. We just keep growing through all these things. It's all very real."

Katie explained to E! News that her relationship is "finally back to normalcy" and she and Chris are busy "trying to live a normal life."

"I know that that seems unconventional considering we signed up for a reality TV show and it's like, that's not normal," Katie admitted.

"But you know what, we deserve to have this time to ourselves in private because everything's been so public. So, we're taking things slow and we're finally living things day by day. We're going to find out what's next! That's for you guys to stay tuned."

Katie and Chris have maintained a pretty low profile on social media in recent weeks other than providing fans occasional glimpses of their life together.

Chris, for instance, called Katie his "partner in crime" in a September 23rd post.

And one week earlier, Chris gushed about Katie on his page , "Love is tough. Love is beautiful. Most importantly love is patient. Sometimes you need a shock to the system to put a fire under your ass. What I felt then I feel even more now. I love you @katieemo and can't wait to feed you pizza for the rest of our lives. #BachelorInParadise."

Katie and Chris, a six-time participant in The Bachelor franchise, arguably had one of the most beautiful and emotional marriage proposals of all time on the show.

Katie seemed to change Chris' life after years of him searching for a life partner, and Katie openly wept as Chris presented her with an engagement ring in Mexico.

But Katie admittedly became distraught, "exhausted" and overwhelmed in her relationship, and she decided not to wear her ring to the reunion taping.

"I love him so much but I put in so much that my tank empties, and if I'm not getting it filled, I break down," Katie explained to Bachelor in Paradise host Harrison.

"The only way I know Chris loves me is the way he tells everyone else, not the way he shows me. I love him, but I can't speak as to how he makes me feel. And the things he said and the things he did seemed so different... I fell in love with potential that might never come to fruition."

Katie cried onstage and admitted she was in a dark place, and then Chris joined her onstage.

Chris acknowledged he doesn't show emotion often and it's usually Katie supporting him in their relationship. He therefore said he wanted to give her all that and more back and would try harder.

Chris told Katie she's amazing and beautiful, and he explained his walls were formed from failed relationships in the past but Katie made him feel like "a million dollars."

"I love you. I do. And I think there are so many better days ahead of us, and I want to see those days. I really do," Chris promised. "I want to be in [this relationship]. I absolutely do."

Katie therefore put her engagement ring back on and the couple kissed onstage.

But after filming their segment, the couple left the studio and Chris admitted to Katie he felt "shocked" and "blindsided" by the statements she had made to the world. Katie pointed out she had discussed all of this with Chris before yet he "never changes."

Katie told Chris that she looked desperate on Bachelor in Paradise, but he clearly didn't want to talk. In fact, Chris shut down and retreated even more. He was then shown walking away from Katie and the cameras.
