Arie Luyendyk Jr. is reflecting back on his The Bachelor journey as a whole, and the 36-year-old pro racing driver has mixed feelings about it.

The experience "wasn't good for my heart," Arie told Us Weekly in its March 12 issue ahead of The Bachelor finale, which will feature Becca Kufrin and Lauren Burnham competing for his final rose.

While the process appears to have left Arie with some scarring, he did admit, "I am really grateful for the experience. It was awesome... I'm happy today."

Arie may be happy today, but it took him nearly two months to get to this point once The Bachelor cameras stopped rolling.

Arie fell in love with both Lauren and Becca on the show, and it's been widely reported he dumped his winner weeks after proposing to her in Cusco, Peru, in November and then begged for his runner-up back! Arie and his runner-up are now reportedly dating.

According to Reality Steve spoiler blogger Steve Carbone, Arie and Becca got engaged at the end of The Bachelor's 22nd season, but he quickly began to have doubts and questions about their relationship.

Sources have said Becca was the safe choice for Arie and Lauren -- who was a risk for Arie given her guarded and reserved nature -- had truly been the one to capture his heart.

"It's difficult to be so open, where you can fall for two people, but I think that creates drama for the show," Arie told Us.

An emotional January 1 phone call -- the night of the show's premiere on ABC -- from Arie to Lauren allegedly got the ball rolling on their reconciliation, and then the Bachelor broke up with Becca on-camera days later.

A production source told the magazine that ABC cameras have been following Arie ever since he broke up with Becca and "all three sat down for interviews with Chris Harrison" on After the Final Rose.

The Bachelor finale will air as a two-night event on Monday, March 5 from 8-11PM ET/PT and Tuesday, March 6 from 8-10PM ET/PT.

"ABC isn't worried this will hurt the franchise," the production source noted. "They're excited to have a dramatic ending."

Dramatic indeed. Carbone believes that Arie and Lauren recently got engaged on the weekend of February 24 and she'll be moving to Scottsdale, AZ, soon to be with him.
