Bret Michaels apparently tried to stomach through some intense stomach pain on Sunday night only to learn that emergency surgery was the only remedy.

The Rock of Love star and current The Celebrity Apprentice participant was rushed to a San Antonio hospital early Monday morning an underwent an emergency appendectomy, People reported.

"[Michaels] remains in the hospital, is doing well and beginning the recovery process," his representative told People.

"Michaels, who has been known to perform under extreme conditions that would make most performers cancel, will unfortunately have no choice but to reschedule some of his April tour dates."

The former Poison frontman was scheduled to perform a Sunday night show in San Antonio when he began to have stomach pains and simply thought it was a severe case of the flu, according to People, which reported Michaels was rushed to the hospital around 1AM Monday.

In addition to starring in VH1's Rock of Love reality dating series, Michaels, who is also a diabetic, is still in the running on NBC's current The Celebrity Apprentice installment, which filmed last fall.
