Hollywood Reporter reports that for the week ending June 23, Fox's 'American Idol: The Search for a Superstar' reality show doggedly held onto its audience, with Tuesday's episode the top-rated program among viewers 18-49 (5.2 rating/15 share), according to figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Another "Idol" the following night may have slightly suffered from a half-hour format, logging a 4.7/14 -- still good enough for second place in the demo. "Idol" helped Fox become the only major network to post a year-to-year hike in the demo last week, with a glamorous 18% increase.

Zap2It.com reports that overall 'American Idol' scored a 6.2/11 rating -- good enough for 15th place in the weekly ratings.
