America's Got Talent revealed six of its 12 ninth-season finalist acts during Wednesday night's live results show of the NBC reality competition series.
Mike "Mystifier" Super, a magician, entertainer and supernaturalist from Pittsburgh, PA; The Sons of Serendip, a musical group of four friends; Emily West, a singer and songwriter from New York City; and Miguel Dakota, a 21-year-old singer and guitarist from Monument, CO, were revealed to have finished as the Top 4 vote-getters after Tuesday night's performance show, automatically earning them a spot in America's Got Talent's ninth-season finals.
Tuesday night's episode had featured the season's first group of 12 semifinalist acts performing for home viewer votes. In addition, America's Got Talent judges Heidi Klum, Melanie "Mel B." Brown, Howard Stern, and Howie Mandel revealed their "Wild Card" picks for the season.
Mike Super happened to be Howie's "Wild Card" pick. Heidi selected Flight Crew Jump Rope, a professional jump rope team from Boise, ID. Mel B. wanted to see Bad Boys of Ballet, a dance group, re-enter the competition. Howard's choice for the fourth "Wild Card" was Wendy Liebman, a stand-up comedian from New York.
During last night's show,America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon revealed that Flight Crew Jump Rope, Bad Boys of Ballet, singer Paul Ieti, stand-up comedian Dan Naturman, and martial arts and circus performer Andrey Moraru had received the five lowest home viewer vote totals.
AGT also announced a new "Snapple Save" twist in which America could vote live to save one of the acts who had finished in fifth, sixth and seventh place based on Tuesday night's voting results.
America voted to advance Mara Justine, a 12-year-old singer from Galloway, NJ, to the Top 12 finalists.
Mara Justine beat out Abigail "Aerial Animation" Baird, a mime, puppetry and silent film act from Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as David and Leeman, a magic duo from Los Angeles, CA.
However, AGT judges were given the power to save either Aerial Animation or David and Leeman from elimination. They could advance only one of the two acts to the finals. Heidi, Howie and Howard all voted to save David and Leeman, which made the duo the last act to go through for the night. Mel B. therefore did not need to reveal her vote.
Next Tuesday night's performance show will feature the remaining 12 semifinalist acts performing for home viewer votes. They will be AcroArmy, Emil and Dariel, Mat Franco, Christian Stoinev, Blue Journey, Jonah Smith, Jaycob Curlee, Baila Conmigo, Quintavious Johnson, Kelli Glover, Tomas "Smoothini" de la Cruz, and Wendy Liebman.
