MTV has announced it will premiere Amber Behind Bars: An MTV Special, on Tuesday, October 9 at 10PM ET/PT.

Amber Behind Bars: An MTV Special will feature the Teen Mom star in an exclusive half-hour interview with Celebrity Rehab star Dr. Drew Pinsky from inside the Rockville Correctional Facility.

Portwood will discuss her current experience in jail, the status of her relationship with daughter Leah and ex-fiance Gary Shirley, her family situation, and her goals for the future. She will also reflect upon her troubled past for home viewers, telling her story for the first time since she entered the facility in June, according to the network.

"Right now I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing with my life. I guess I just got lost. I went to jail because I had an addiction to opiates. You live and you learn, and that's real. It's time for me to stop partying and realize that even though I'm 21, I'm not a normal 21-year-old -- I'm a mother. Which means I have to grow up quicker and start acting like a mother," Portwood said in a statement read aloud by Dr. Drew during Teen Mom's series reunion broadcast earlier this month.

"Right now my number one priority in life is dedicating my life to being sober, to being a sober person. And to show my daughter that people make mistakes but you can always come back. If Leah learns anything from me she should see how becoming a teen mom can change you. How everything is postponed... I want to show everybody that I can do it, I can start living a straight life and getting my family back in order."

Portwood was sentenced to five years in jail in early June after an Indiana judge reimposed her prior jail sentence from a December arrest for drug and probation violations. She received the sentence because she deliberately pulled herself out of a mandatory intense drug rehabilitation program, which had kept the sentence suspended as part of a plea deal, after participating for three months.

In June, Portwood told Good Morning America in a jailhouse interview she hoped lengthy incarceration would curb her drug addictions once and for all. The reality TV star, who also claimed she suffers from depression, had admitted she tried to kill herself by taking 30 Suboxone [which typically treats opioid addiction] within three days.

Amber Behind Bars: An MTV Special is being executive produced by Morgan J. Freeman, Dia Sokol Savage and Lauren Dolgen.
