By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 06/12/2022
90 Day Fiance star Guillermo Rojer was shown worrying about Kara Bass' cheating past on the show's ninth season, so did the couple make things work and get married, or did they split -- and are Kara and Guillermo still together now and living in the United States?
[90 Day Fiance Spoilers warning: This report contains spoilers about Kara and Guillermo and if the 90 Day Fiance couple got married and are still together.]
Kara is a 29-year-old balloon-garland maker from Charlottesville, VA, who previously worked as a dancer, singer, chef and more.
Guillermo even managed to fly to the United States, which he called "paradise," with an expired Venezuelan passport.
Guillermo's brother still considered Guillermo to be a young boy, and Kara playfully called herself "a proud sugar mommy." But Guillermo insisted he wasn't in his relationship for a green card or permanent stay in the U.S.
Guillermo knew Kara would have to take care of him in America, both emotionally and financially, but at the same time, he wanted to be treated as a man.
Once Guillermo stepped foot on American soil, he thought Virginia was beautiful, and he and Kara said they broke in the new bed that night.
But during Guillermo's first full day in Kara's home, they argued about a laptop. Guillermo wanted to buy a new computer while Kara demanded that they save money -- as they only had $6,000 in the bank -- and only purchase necessary items for the near future.
Guillermo felt controlled and yelled at like a child, and Kara was disappointed in Guillermo's behavior and poor decision-making.
Guillermo vented about how he didn't appreciate Kara talking down to him when they were supposed to be building a life together. He added, "She's not my mom."
Kara then took Guillermo to her mother's house so Guillermo could meet her family, including Uncle Mike, a protective father figure in Kara's life. (Kara's biological dad passed away in 2019).
Kara's family wasn't sure Guillermo is "The One" for Kara, and Mike joked about how he was going to hire a private investigator to check Guillermo out.
Kara's parents were also concerned about Guillermo's work and how he was going to make money in the United States.
Mike said he was impressed with Guillermo right off the bat but he needed to see how Guillermo was going to treat Kara in the future. Mike didn't want to see Kara's fiance becoming a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
With 87 days left to wed, Kara and Guillermo met two of Kara's good friends, Hillary and her fiance Cooper.
Hillary was skeptical of Guillermo's intentions, and asked Guillermo if he was truly ready to get married at age 23. Guillermo said he had been through many things in life and was ready.
Guillermo, however, admitted Kara drinking too much drove him insane and he didn't like how she tended to black out at the end of party evenings. Hillary said Kara liked to have fun, party and live life on her own terms, so she questioned how Guillermo was going to handle that.
"I will have a limit," Guillermo said. "Sometimes she knows what will make me uncomfortable and she still wants to do it. If we go out, and I said, 'I want to go back home,' she never wants to go home."
Kara said she never wants to be the first person to leave a party but there was going to be "a learning curve" with Guillermo.
Kara said Guillermo had dated a Canadian girl before her and Guillermo once used the same line on Kara -- about wanting to watch the moon with her -- as he had used on his ex. Kara said she found the text message when looking through Guillermo's phone and it made the sweet remark feel "cheap" to her.
Kara got so mad that night that she threw Guillermo's clothes out a window, and Hillary could tell the pair didn't exactly feel secure and safe with each other.
There were some things Kara and Guillermo still had to figure out about each other, and Kara wasn't sure they'd ever see eye to eye on certain subjects.
With 79 days to wed, Guillermo joined Kara in doing a balloon installation for her 10-year high school reunion.
Kara had been a cheerleader and homecoming queen at her high school, and she felt a lot of pressure for her display to be perfect -- so much so, that Guillermo called her "annoying" and "controlling." He apparently didn't like it when his fiancee snapped at him or barked orders.
"I think, baby, you are being rude," Guillermo said, adding that he didn't like Kara talking to him like he's "an idiot."
Kara swore at Guillermo and said she didn't "give a f-ck," and Guillermo said he didn't understand why she was being so "aggressive" when he was just trying to help and assist her.
In addition to feeling stressed, Kara also seemed nervous about Guillermo meeting her high school boyfriend, whom she had dated for a couple of years and went to multiple proms and dances with.
"I really hope she's [not going] to treat me the same way tonight in front of her friends, because if she doesn't respect me and does whatever she wants, that is not going to work with me," Guillermo noted.
Guillermo then met Kara's ex Kris, an aspiring rapper with interesting style and many tattoos.
Kris advised Guillermo to say "no" to Kara because she can be controlling, and Kara nodded her head in agreement. Kris didn't think Kara and her fiance were going to work out because Guillermo wasn't "enough man" for her.
Kris insisted that he and Kara were "in love, bad" in high school and were all over each other but then during a break in college, Kris went through her text messages and found one to a guy in which she had allegedly said, "It was so good seeing you. That kiss was amazing."
Kris therefore accused Kara of cheating on him and said he "never" trusted a woman again.
Kara said she didn't remember any of that until Kris brought it up, which reminded her of a time she had kissed another guy at massage school. She hadn't thought about it in 10 years, and Guillermo seemed shocked and upset.
Guillermo was afraid Kara might do the same thing to him, and he realized he should be careful going forward.
Guillermo felt Kara had lied about being unfaithful to her high school boyfriend, but Kara insisted the situation wasn't significant enough to her to bring up.
Kara revealed she had cheated on men twice before when she was a teenager but learned a lot over the years and totally changed in that department.
"I hope," Guillermo said. "I feel weird and disappointed, but at the same time, I'll give Kara the opportunity to show me the real person she is. She can try to cheat on me, but then I will just have to walk away and I'll just leave her."
Kara acknowledged that she would work on her listening skills, but she also didn't want Guillermo to try to change her.
Kara wanted Guillermo to feel heard, but at the same time, she wanted him to love her for her and who she is.
Guillermo added how Kara could work on having respect for him, and she agreed.
"Okay, so make the change," Guillermo said. "Your words have to become actions, because you like to talk a lot of sh-t and then you don't do anything. That thing, just to let you know, could make us have big problems."
Based on a preview of what's to come this season, the pair is shown debating over whether they should get married "in two days."
"I mean, are we?" Kara asks, to which Guillermo replies, "You tell me."
