90 Day Fiance is launching another spinoff, as TLC has announced it will premiere 90 Day Fiance: Self-Quarantined later this month.
As the title suggests, 90 Day Fiance: Self-Quarantined will give viewers a glimpse into the lives of more than 40 former 90 Day Fiance franchise stars as they quarantine themselves at home amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
90 Day Fiance: Self-Quarantined will initially be a five-episode series that will premiere on April 20 and run through May, according toVariety, however that could change.
"Right now, I think this is a limited series event, a one-time only," TLC President Howard Lee told Variety. "If for some reason, this is popular, and the audience really loves it, I don't know -- maybe there's more down the road!"
More than 40 cast members from the franchise's six-year history reportedly began recording themselves earlier this week as well as their interactions on the computer and video chat, which Lee said is "already in their DNA."
Production company Sharp Entertainment will also reportedly tape interviews with the 90 Day Fiance stars over video chat. Some couples are living and quarantining together, while others are still trying to make long-distance relationships work.
"Our crew is not near them physically at all. They will be helping them remotely," Lee told Variety.
"And they have no problem with this, the couples. They're seizing this opportunity. I think that they're actually really enjoying it, being able to show a part of their lives at home."
Lee teased the series will be unlike anything90 Day Fiance viewers have ever seen before.
"We're going to have to hear from them first hand," Lee explained. "This is just a sampling. We're still working with many of them and trying to see who we can get."
90 Day Fiance: Self-Quarantined reportedly won't be the only special series of its kind based on the effects and concerns of coronavirus.
Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee, who starred on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way in 2019, have reportedly been recording themselves for a future show about being under quarantine in South Korea.
As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise in the United States and overseas, businesses, schools and restaurants have closed, and dozens of reality TV shows have postponed or canceled production -- including The Bachelorette, Survivor and The Amazing Race.
