VH1 has announced it will premiere Scream Queens, a new reality competition that will feature ten aspiring actresses vying for a role in a horror movie, on Sunday, October 12 at 10PM ET/PT.

Writer, director and producer James Gunn, actress Shawnee Smith and acting coach John Homa will serve as judges for the series, which will pit the aspiring actresses against one another to see who makes the best horror movie victim.

Smith will also double as Scream Queens' host, with Gunn also directing the contestants' performances and Homa serving as their acting coach.

The winner will receive a major role in a yet-to-be-named horror movie that will be distributed by Lionsgate -- the same production company that is producing Scream Queens.

While none of the judges have any prior reality credentials, they all have worked in Hollywood's horror industry. Gunn wrote 2004's Dawn of the Dead and also wrote and directed 2006's Slither, while Smith has appeared in all five Saw movies.
