TrimSpa CEO defends Anna Nicole Smith, questions photos

The founder of New Jersey-based TrimSpa, the weight-loss pill Anna Nicole Smith endorsed, said he never saw Smith use another weight-loss product or drugs.

TrimSpa CEO Alex Goen commented on published photos authenticated as being Smith's refrigerator containing Slimfast, a TrimSpa rival, and methadone.

Smith died Feb. 8 in Hollywood, Fla., of unknown causes. "As far as the methadone goes, I don't know what to say about that," Goen told CBS' "The Early Show" co-anchor Hannah Storm.

"As far as the Slimfast goes, I mean you have to look at that picture and kind of question it. All the bottles seemed to be pointed in the proper direction so there's a good shot of it," he said. "I understand this picture has been authenticated, but by who?"

Goen said he never saw Smith, who received between $200,000 and $500,000 to be the TrimSpa spokeswoman, take another weight-loss product or use drugs. Goen said social anxiety could have caused Smith's slurred speech.

"The first time I met her, she didn't talk very comfortably. Her vocal chords tightened up, she sounded like a little child," he said.
