'The Simple Life' stars' "camp couselor" roles to include fat camp stint

By Christopher Rocchio, 03/20/2007

The last place you'd expect to find Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are at fat camp.  But that's just where they'll be spending part of the upcoming fifth season of E!'s The Simple Life.

"They are doing five camps in five weeks," an insider told The New York Post on Monday.  "This is just one of them."

However The Post reported E! isn't calling it fat camp, and are instead referring to it as a "wellness camp focused on eating right, yoga, nutrition and exercise."

With one of their five counselor positions being at the fat camp, the situation couldn't be more ironic considering Richie denied allegations last September that she checked into a clinic for eating disorders and then announced in October she was seeking treatment for what her representative described as "an inability to put on weight."

Richie's on-again/off-again friendship with Hilton was rekindled in October, after which E! announced a few days later that a fifth season of The Simple Life would begin production in November.  However the original production schedule ended up being postponed by Richie's treatment announcement.

Richie was also reportedly treated for dehydration while filming the fifth season of The Simple Life.
