The Proposal's first "mystery gentleman," Mike Crowe, has revealed he's single again.

Mike, a police officer from Bakersfield, CA, got engaged to Monica Villalobos during The Proposal's debut episode back in June, but they have apparently split several months after the broadcast aired on ABC.

Mike explained in a TMZ video that Monica broke things off with him last week while they were vacationing in Costa Rica for his surprise 30th birthday party.

"While we were there in Costa Rica, we were having a great time and about halfway through [the trip] is when she told me that she didn't have feelings for me anymore and wanted to break it off. It just sucks going through any type of breakup like that," Mike told TMZ.

Mike said their split is more difficult than usual because they began dating in the public eye and many people are fans of their relationship.

"You kind of put all of your emotions out there and 15 or 20 million people watch your show and they start following you on social media, and so they start getting invested in your life. So, I just want to say thank you to all of our supporters," Mike said.

"It's something you want to work out because it's an amazing, amazing story... but it just didn't work out."

Mike is clearly still hurting from the breakup, especially since he put himself out there on television to hopefully meet The One.

As for whether Mike feels the premise of The Proposal set him up to fail in his relationship given he had only known Monica for less than an hour before popping the question, he replied, "We just didn't really know or expect what was going to happen. So I don't know if there was an expectation."

Mike continued, "For me, I didn't necessarily feel the outside pressure. I'm used to that because I'm an officer, you know, people judging you and talking about you. So, I'm kind of used to that. Maybe for her there was a little bit of an influence or a problem. But set up for failure? For me, no."

Mike is now back on the market, and he admitted to TMZ he's intrigued by the idea of potentially competing on a future season of The Bachelorette.

"I guess I would say, 'Never say never.' I would probably say, 'Maybe.' I might do it. I get a little giddy just talking about that, but yeah, I wouldn't mind it for sure," Mike gushed.

According to ABC executive Robert Mills, Mike and Monica filmed their episode of The Proposal in April.

The Proposal, hosted by Jesse Palmer and created by Mike Fleiss, debuted with 10 women -- selected by a panel of matchmakers -- attempting to win the heart of Mike by participating in four pageant-style rounds of competition, including swimwear and "dealbreaker questions."

Mike's identity was initially concealed from the ladies.
