The Bachelorette alum Hannah Brown has admitted that Tyler Cameron broke her heart and he made her feel like his backup "bench girl" after her season aired on ABC.

Hannah recalled receiving mixed signals and navigating a confusing relationship with Tyler from 2019-2020 in her new memoir, God Bless This Mess: Learning to Live and Love Through Life's Best (and Worst) Moments, which hit store shelves on November 23.

"No matter how much we talked, and connected, I always felt like his bench girl," Hannah wrote, Us Weekly reported.

"Like I was the backup player who never got to play in the game."

Hannah recalled in God Bless This Mess that she had made a mistake by getting engaged to Jed Wyatt at the end of The Bachelorette's fifteenth season and so she asked Tyler out during After the Final Rose, which resulted in Hannah and her runner-up spending a night together at Hannah's place in Los Angeles in early August 2019.

But then Tyler quickly distanced himself from Hannah and began dating supermodel Gigi Hadid, a turn of events Hannah called "shocking" and hurtful in her book.

"This wasn't a TV show. This wasn't some game," Hannah wrote, according to the magazine.

"My time with Tyler at my apartment wasn't some meaningless hookup, the way it was portrayed in the press. My heart was on the line. And he broke it. With a supermodel."

Hannah admitted, "And what's crazy is, I loved Gigi Hadid! I thought she was the coolest. I still do. I get it. I would even go on a date with her. I wanna be her friend!"

But Hannah clarified, "Never did I expect to be in a love triangle with her."

While Tyler dated Gigi for a couple of months and pursued an acting career in New York City, Hannah competed on Dancing with the Stars in late 2019 and tried to sort out her feelings.

(Hannah also had trouble letting her third-place The Bachelorette finisher Peter Weber go, and the pair hooked up in February 2020 while Peter's season of The Bachelor was airing on ABC.)

However, Tyler's beloved mother Andrea Cameron was hospitalized in late February 2020, and she died from a tragic brain aneurysm shortly afterwards.

The day after Andrea passed away, Hannah's brother experienced a drug overdose, and so Hannah reunited with Tyler in his home state of Florida so she could attend Andrea's memorial and the pair could support each other through their respective trauma.

Hannah wrote that she was initially going to stay in a hotel for a few days but then Tyler invited her to stay at a house he had rented with friends in Jupiter, FL.

"He cried with me about his mom. 'Wow,' I thought. 'I really really care about this person,'" Hannah shared, according to Us.

Hannah subsequently got her brother settled into rehab and then Tyler invited her to quarantine with a group of his friends in Jupiter once the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020.

Hannah and Tyler were in lockdown for several weeks together, along with The Bachelor 25 star Matt James and the rest of "The Quarantine Crew."

Hannah, who never anticipated her stay to be so long, and Tyler apparently slept in the same bed for several weeks but never hooked up or even kissed. Hannah wrote in her memoir that she felt "miserable" and self-conscious about the fact Tyler was not making a move on her.

Hannah explained that she and Tyler would sometimes go days without talking, and at other times, they would cuddle at night.

Hannah ultimately returned home single to Alabama on April 1, 2020 and feeling pretty upset and alone.

"When I finally figured out a way to get back to Alabama, Tyler gave me a side hug, and then we didn't talk the rest of the day," Hannah shared.

While The Bachelorette fans were shipping Hannah and Tyler pretty hard at this point, Hannah admitted in her book, "Two unhealthy people do not make for a healthy relationship."

Hannah claimed she has not seen or spoken to Tyler since they briefly reunited in October 2020 in Los Angeles to film a YouTube video about their adventures in quarantine together.

And when they reconnected, Hannah said she didn't feel like Tyler's main priority at all.

Feeling like Tyler's "bench girl," Hannah said she told Tyler that it was going to be too difficult for her to remain simply platonic pals with him.

"His last poetic words to me were, 'Well... if you rock with me, you rock with me. If you don't, you don't.' I wish I was making that up."

Before God Bless This Mess was released, Tyler told Us that he wasn't "nervous" about what Hannah had written about him.

"I'm sure I'll go grab a copy," Tyler noted. "I wish her the best and I hope it sells well."

In Tyler's own memoir, You Deserve Better: What Life Has Taught Me About Love, Relationships, and Becoming Your Best Self, he confessed to handling the situation with Hannah and Gigi very poorly.

"This was a major mistake on my end. Not because I shouldn't have been dating, because I was very clear with Hannah all along that after the way the show ended, I needed some time and space to figure things out," Tyler reportedly disclosed.

"I even called Hannah in the afternoon the same day I arrived in New York and told her again that I thought we both deserved to date other people."

But Tyler confessed to still putting Hannah "in a tough, tough position."

"If I could go back and do it all again, I would handle it differently. My communication should have been better," he concluded.

Hannah has now been dating boyfriend, model Adam Woolard, for about a year.

Tyler was most recently in a serious relationship with model Camila Kendra, but she "broke off the relationship" in August after eight months of dating, Us previously reported.

"It was time for her to refocus on her own very lucrative career," a source said of why Camila allegedly pulled the plug when Tyler had declared he was "very in love" with her.
