"When I realized I was going to be coming back as The Bachelor [star], I wished upon myself several times that the decision would just be next to impossible -- and I'm regretting wishing that upon myself," Jake said at the beginning of the season's first Rose Ceremony.

"This is really, really tough. I want to say tonight if you don't receive a rose, it's nothing personal. I thank each and every one of you for being yourself."

Alexa, a 25-year-old entrepreneur from Galloway, OH; Caitlyn, a 24-year-old spokesmodel from Winfield, IL; Channy, a 29-year-old mortgage loan officer from Santa Rosa, CA; Elizabeth, a 29-year-old Air National Guard captain from Washington, DC; Emily, a 23-year-old model from West Chester, OH; Kimberly, a 24-year-old NBA dancer from Norman, OK; Kirsten, a 25-year-old waitress from Aurora, CO; Sheila, a 25-year-old commercial pilot from San Juan Capistrano, CA; Stephanie, a 24-year-old dance teacher from Morris, IL; and Tiana, a 31-year-old medical technician from Vancouver, British Columbia, all failed to receive a rose from the 31-year-old commercial pilot from Dallas, TX.

"I don't even know what went wrong to be honest," opined Tiana. "There was something there, and I think if Jake would have taken then time to get to know me, I think he could have fallen in love with me."

The Bachelor's fourteenth-season premiere began with a brief recap of Jake's journey as a The Bachelorette fifth-season suitor last year, introductions to several of the On the Wings of Love bachelorettes, and a sit-down interview between Jake and host Chris Harrison.

The 25 bachelorettes then arrived at the Malibu mansion before the initial cocktail reception commenced.

"I am genuinely here to find my best friend, fall in love and get married," Jake told them once inside.

All of the girls immediately tried to secure some one-on-one time with Jake.

Ashley -- a 29-year-old teacher from Pittsburgh, PA who is also the sister of former third-season The Apprentice contestant Erin Elmore-- donned a revealing flight attendant's uniform and stole Jake away from Ella, a 30-year-old hair stylist from Lafollette, TN.  Ashley's timing couldn't have been worse for Ella, who had just revealed to Jake that she's a single mom and her young son wanted to be a pilot.

Elizabeth, a 29-year-old nanny from Imperial, NE, then approached Jake with a football and the two played catch outside the mansion. The other bachelorettes joined them and the group got a game going with Jake playing quarterback for both the blonde and brunette teams.

With the game in the books the girls returned inside and Michelle, a 26-year-old office manager from Anaheim, CA, began to get upset about the possibility of not receiving the first-impression rose.

"It will kill me if I don't get the first-impression rose," she said. "Where I am in life right now, I deserve Jake -- filling in that missing spot, that future husband, children -- it will just make me feel even."

While spending some time with Kathryn, a 25-year-old corporate flight attendant from Lexington, KY, Jake said he was curious as to why she was wearing an engagement ring. She explained it was because she has a "pretend fiance" before giving him the ring.

"I'm so excited to finally be able to take this ring off. I don't want to pretend anymore," she said in a confessional. "I want something real, and that's what I'm here for. I'm hopeful it's with Jake."

Michelle continued to have a hard time emotionally, and even began to cry. She eventually stole him for some alone time from Alexa, who was not too pleased.

"Some people are crazy," said Alexa.

"This girl Michelle, she's having a mental breakdown," added Vienna, a 23-year-old marketing representative from Sanford, FL. "We've only been here for an hour. She seems very annoying."

Michele explained she was there to fall in love with Jake and be his "co-pilot."

"I can tell that you're really being genuine and being yourself," Jake told her, adding in a confessional he could tell she's an "emotional" person.

Chris then returned and explained Jake would receive some help from The Bachelorette fifth-season star Jillian Harris and her selected suitor Ed Swiderski.

"It just kind of shows that things work out the way they're supposed to," said Jake about Jillian and Ed's return. "Now it's my turn."

Jake met with Jillian and Ed, and he told them not to hold back. The Bachelorette lovebirds then interviewed all of the ladies, while Jake took the opportunity to spend more time with the bachelorettes -- including Tenley, a 25-year-old college admissions representative from Newberg, OR. She gave him 10 facts about herself before the two shared a kiss at her request.

"Tenley and I had just a really great conversation and she kissed me," said Jake. "It was really sweet."

In the house, Tenley got emotional and explained it had been a "really long time" since she last kissed someone.

"That was my ex-husband," she said in a confessional.

Jillian and Ed then met with Jake, and Ed said he really liked Elizabeth because she was "great looking" and had a "great personality" but was "very down to earth" and "very relaxed," and added he was also a fan of Sheila. Jillian said she really liked Ella and Kathryn. In addition, both Jillian and Ed said they didn't get a good vibe from Michelle.

"You have a good blend of people here," said Ed to Jake. "You have a tough job."

Jillian and Ed then left and Jake revealed he was giving his first-impression rose to Tenley.

"I felt the connection and some of the things you said were very endearing," he told her outside.

In a confessional, Tenley said she was "really happy."

"I'm pretty blown away by it, but I know that I have that opportunity to let Jake pursue me now," she added. "So all those tears over that kiss, I'm going to be okay."

The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love's first Rose Ceremony then commenced.

In addition to Tenley, Jake gave a rose to Ella; Elizabeth; Ali, a 25-year-old advertising account manager from Williamstown, MA; Vienna; Christina, a 25-year-old restaurant manager from San Diego, CA; Gia, a 26-year-old swimsuit model from New York, NY; Ashley; Rozlyn, a 28-year-old model/makeup artist from Richmond, VA; Jessie, a 25-year-old cosmetic sales manager from Oakville, Ontario; Corrie, a 23-year-old wardrobe consultant from Kissimmee, FL; Valishia, a 32-year-old homemaker from Carlsbad, CA; Ashleigh, a 25-year-old account manager from North Potomac, MD; Kathryn; and Michelle

"I'm frustrated. He just didn't think that I was the one for him," Emily said after she failed to receive a rose.

"Right now I feel incomplete because I want to fall in love and find my best friend. I want that fairy tale romance, and I thought I definitely would have had a shot with Jake. I guess that's why they're fairy tales -- they're not usually true. So, it hurts."

The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love's next episode will air Monday, January 11 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
