The Amazing Race team of Chris Hammons and Bret LaBelle survived a non-elimination leg during Wednesday night's Season 31 broadcast on CBS.

Although former Survivor castaways Chris, 40, and Bret, 44 -- who raced as friends from Moore, OK, and Dedham, MA, respectively -- arrived at the third Pit Stop in Vietnam in last place, The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan announced it was a non-elimination leg and they could keep racing.

"We have to make better decisions, but we are here," Chris said after learning the great news.

"Anything is possible. We're going to do a Speed Bump -- big deal. We'll get back on track!"

The episode began with former The Amazing Race racers Leo Temory and friend Jamal Zadran being the first team to depart the second Pit Stop in Luang Prabang, Laos in first place.

The team ripped open its first set of clues and learned they must travel to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and book their seats on a flight via the Travelocity app.

After former Big Brother houseguests Nicole Franzel and fiance Victor Arroyo were shown using the app, former The Amazing Race racers Colin Guinn and life partner Christie Woods mentioned taking a flight that left at 2:40PM and arrived at 7:30PM.

Upon landing, the teams were told they must pick up a packet of herbal remedies from a local doctor at The House of Vietnamese Medicine. The packet would obtain the teams' next clue.

Former The Amazing Race racers Tyler Oakley and friend Korey Kuhl were then shown saying they had left the Pit Stop in seventh place but were shooting for first this leg.

Meanwhile, former The Amazing Race racers Becca Droz and friend Floyd Pierce felt bad about U-Turning Tyler and Korey in the previous leg because they had actually hoped to form an alliance with them at some point.

"That put a little bit of a wrench in things," Floyd said.

Becca and Floyd gave Tyler and Korey "a peace offering" by giving them some homemade trail mix.

As for Chris and Bret, they were ready to try a different strategy and run with the pack.

At the airport, former Big Brother houseguests Rachel Reilly and sister Elissa Slater also apologized to Becca and Floyd for U-Turning them.

Bret could sense some "serious bad blood" between teams and figured the teams who had been targeted in the prior leg would seek revenge at the first opportunity although things seemed all fine and dandy.

The Big Brother teams -- which included Janelle Pierzina and friend Britney Haynes -- then made a pact not to U-Turn each other.

All of the teams got on the same flight into Vietnam and then fought for taxis upon landing, but Colin and Christie found the doctor in first place and received their next set of clues before anyone else.

Tyler and Korey got there next and learned it was time to choose one of two possible Detour tasks: "Reel It In" or "Light It Up."

"Reel It In" required teams to catch eight prawns in order to receive their next clue.

"Light It Up" required the teams to light up the dance floor with a famous dance crew. Teams had to stay in step with the group and deliver an "electrifying performance" to receive their next clue.

Becca and Floyd grabbed their clue for the Detour in third place, and they were then followed by Rachel and Elissa, Janelle and Britney, and Nicole and Victor.

Leo and Jamal guided former Survivor castaways Eliza Orlins and friend Corinne Kaplan in the wrong direction, so the guys jumped ahead in seventh place. Eliza and Corinne called Leo and Jamal the "biggest liars" ever and were running to the Detour in eighth place.

Meanwhile, Bret and Chris were trailing in last place.

However, multiple teams got lost trying to find the location of the Detour. Leo and Jamal got lost, as well as Janelle and Britney.

Leo and Jamal managed to get to the Detour before Janelle and Britney, who revealed they had gotten lost "for an hour."

All of the teams opted to try "Light It Up" except for Tyler and Korey and Corinne and Eliza.

Bret and Chris hoped dancing would be a quick and easy routine because catching fish is all about luck and would be very unpredictable.

Elissa thought her yoga background would serve her well in dancing, while Becca had a history of doing musical theater and thought she'd pick up on the choreography quickly. Floyd is also musical given he used to be in a marching band.

Christie noted, however, learning the routine was not going to be her strength.

Becca and Floyd appeared to do the steps right but they failed on their first attempt because the instructor wanted them to bring more power and energy to their performance.

The pair nailed the dance on their second try, and then it quickly became time for one of the team members to complete a Roadblock task.

Bret didn't think he was going to struggle with the dance as much as he did, and the moves didn't come to Elissa as easily as she thought they would either.

Colin and Christie completed the Detour task in second place, and then they were followed by Nicole and Victor on their eighth attempt.

After Chris and Bret tried the dance just one time, they decided to walk off the stage and go fishing instead. Bret blamed himself for not fishing to begin with.

Meanwhile, Corinne and Eliza completed the fishing Detour task in fourth place, and on their heels were Tyler and Korey in fifth place.

Rachel and Elissa finally completed their dance on their 18th attempt, and then Janelle and Britney raced off in seventh place after eight attempts at the dance.

Bret and Chris were then thrilled to complete the fishing task in eighth place, putting Leo and Jamal in last. Leo and Jamal were absolutely exhausted and didn't receive their next clue until their 27th attempt at the dance.

The Roadblock task required one person from each team to successfully learn and sing a few lines of a song in Vietnamese for a karaoke performance.

Floyd gave the Roadblock task a shot, as well as Colin, Victor, Eliza, Tyler, Rachel, Janelle, Bret, and Leo.

Floyd crushed the song on his first attempt and received his next clue, which instructed the teams to head to Ho Thi Ky, a flower market that would serve as the Race's third Pit Stop.

Victor also sang the song well on his first try, so he and Nicole took off to the Pit Stop in second place. Behind them were Colin and Christie in third, Tyler and Korey in fourth, Corinne and Eliza in fifth, Janelle and Britney in sixth, and Rachel and Elissa in seventh place.

In a shocking turn of events, Leo received his clue after not much practice or rehearsal -- ahead of Bret.

Leo and Jamal therefore took off to the Pit Stop in eighth place, leaving Bret and Chris in last.

Becca and Floyd eventually arrived at the Pit Stop mat in first place. For winning the leg, they received a trip for two to the Bahamas.

Nicole and Victor arrived at the Pit Stop in second place, followed by Colin and Christie in third place and then Tyler and Korey in fourth place.

Corinne and Eliza met Phil Keoghan at the Pit Stop in fifth place.

Janelle and Britney placed sixth in this leg, and then right behind them were Rachel and Elissa in seventh place.

Leo and Jamal then stepped on the mat in eighth place, followed by Chris and Bret.

"Chris and Bret, all good things have to come to an end," Phil said when the guys arrived.

"Unfortunately," Bret noted, looking down and discouraged.

After the guys agreed they were glad they had signed on for the Race and had no regrets, Phil revealed this was a non-elimination leg.

Chris and Bret yelled and cheered, but they will have to complete an additional Speed Bump task in the next leg of the Race, airing next Wednesday night on CBS.
