Snooki reportedly falsely denied she is pregnant earlier this month for a simple reason: superstition.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi lied about being pregnant because she "didn't want to jinx herself" by violating the traditional "three months" standard and announcing her pregnancy prior to the successful completion of her first trimester, TMZ reported Wednesday.

Star Magazine had reported the Jersey Shore star was expecting her first child with boyfriend Jionni LaValle on February 1, but Snooki and her rep both immediately denied that was the case.

"There's no truth to the reports," her representative told MTV News later that same day.

"Does that mean they're calling me fat?" Snooki reportedly said during an interview with the Opie and Anthony radio show on February 1. "That means that I have a belly then."

"I definitely do want kids, but I'm not pregnant... being pregnant should be a real thing and a happy thing, and I'm not," she added during a separate February 2 appearance on Good Morning America.

However, according to a new New York Post report published Wednesday, Snooki -- who is currently filming her upcoming Jersey Shore spinoff with Jenni "JWoww" Farley in New Jersey -- is indeed pregnant and is now about three months along.

Snooki's representative declined comment when contacted by the Post, which reported the Jersey Shore star hopes "to bankroll her mommy-to-be status into becoming 'the next Kourtney Kardashian'" and has already landed a deal to announce her pregnancy on the cover of Us Weekly.
