Is Average Joe 2 fated to become another Joe Millionaire 2-like ratings disappointment? Or is the second installment of the series just experiencing the same momentary ratings drop as the second episode of the first series? Only time will tell.

According to Nielsen Media Research's updated in-home viewing figures for the January 12 second episode broadcast of Average Joe 2: Hawaii, the bloom appears to quickly be falling off the Average Joe rose, as the sequel's second episode followed up last week's disappointing premiere ratings by dropping over a million additional viewers.

From 10-11 PM ET, the second episode of the Larissa Meek-led Average Joe 2: Hawaii series drew 8.3 million overall viewers and a 4.1/12 rating/share in the Adults 18-49 demographic. While the numbers were a significant drop from the 9.6 million viewers and a 4.9/12 Adults 18-49 rating/share that the series' January 5 premiere drew, NBC took solace in the fact that the episode still placed second (behind CBS' CSI: Miami in all key adult and adult-female demographics for the 10 PM timeslot.

NBC can also take some comfort in the fact that the second episode of its original Average Joe series also suffered a similar ratings hiccup in its second episode, drawing a 4.6/12 rating/share in the Adults 18-49 demographic and 9.3 million viewers overall. Those numbers were also significant down from the first series' November 3 premiere episode draw of 11.2 million viewers and a 5.8/15 Adults 18-49 score.
