It worked once, so why not try it again? Michael Starr in the NY Post reports that NBC is "definitely considering re-airing" episodes of the Bravo hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, in the face of record-breaking ratings for the cable show. The July 29 episode of the show on Bravo (which is owned by NBC) drew 2.8 million viewers, smashing the record for the most-watched show in Bravo history: the 1.6 million who watched the series premiere on July 15. The first episode then drew 6.7 million viewers to NBC when re-aired on the broadcast network on July 24.

In the face of the 63% increase in audience, an NBC spokesperson said that Queer Eye was "gaining the same type of momentum that The Osbournes had" during its debut season on MTV. In addition, Carson Kressley, one of the "Fab Five" doing the makeovers, has been gathering Simon Cowell-like publicity.

Bravo's other new gay-oriented (or is that woman-oriented?) reality show, Boy Meets Boy, which premiered last night in the time slot just before Queer Eye, matched the ratings of the Queer Eye premiere, drawing 1.6 million viewers itself. Of course, some of those viewers may just have been drawn to the controversy about having straight guys mixed in among the gays in the bachelor pool. But who's complaining about why people watch?
