NBC reveals identities of the 10 'The Biggest Loser: Couples' teams

NBC has revealed the identities of the 10 duos who will be competing on The Biggest Loser: Couples, the fifth-season of the reality weight-loss series scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, January 1 at 8PM ET/PT.

For the first time in the show's history, The Biggest Loser contestants will compete while paired in teams with somebody they have a pre-existing relationship with.

While nine of the 10 teams -- including a mother and son; mother and daughter; two husband and wife teams; a divorced couple; best friends; father and daughter; brothers; and former football teammates -- already have a bond, the tenth team will consist of two strangers who didn't meet until they were paired together.

Throughout the season, the teams of two will be training, competing in challenges, and weighing in together rather than as individuals for the chance to claim the $250,000 grand prize.

Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels will both return for the show's fifth edition, however Kim Lyons -- who replaced Michaels as the Red Team's trainer prior to the show's third season -- will not.

When contacted earlier this month, NBC attributed Lyons' The Biggest Loser: Couples absence to her decision to "pursue other opportunities," including the promotion of her upcoming book. "Kim Lyons' Your Body, Your Life" -- a new exercise guide penned by Lyons and published by Sterling Publishing Co., Inc. -- is scheduled for release in January.

New fourth-season host Alison Sweeney will return to helm The Biggest Loser: Couples.

The 10 teams competing on The Biggest Loser: Couples -- as well as their NBC-supplied bios -- are:

"Husband and Wife" Curtis and Mallory Bray

Curtis is a 35-year-old graphic designer. Mallory is a 36-year-old business owner. The couple resides in Los Angeles, CA.

"Mother and Daughter" Bette Sue Burkland and Alison Vincent

Bette Sue is a 53-year-old hair stylist, Alison is a 32-year-old hair stylist. Both reside in Mesa, AZ.

"Mother and Son" Jackie and Dan Evans

Jackie is a 49-year-old CEO of a non-profit organization. Dan is a 21-year-old camp counselor and musician. Both reside in Frankfort, IL.

"Divorced Couple" Kelly Fields and Paul Marks

Kelly is a 38-year-old nurse from Titusville, FL. Paul is a 43-year-old space center missle-support specialist from Rockledge, FL.

"Husband and Wife" Neill and Amanda Harmer

Neill is a 28-year-old web developer. Amanda is a 29-year-old teacher. The couple resides in Bethany, OK.

"Best Friends" Maggie King and Jennifer Widder

Maggie is a 23-year-old weight-loss camp counselor from Denville, NJ. Jennifer is a 22-year-old weight-loss camp assistant director from River Edge, NJ.

"Brothers" Mark and Jay Kruger

Mark is a 35-year-old aerial device sales representative from Dartmouth, MA. Jay is a 31-year-old aerial device account manager from Bedford, MA.

"Former Football Teammates" Roger Shultz and Trent Patterson

Roger is a 40-year-old associate athletic director from Enterprise, AL. Trent is a 39-year-old school safety and security coordinator from Endicott, NY.

"Father and Daughter" Lynn and Jenni Westphal

Lynn is a 60-year-old interior decorator from Elyria, OH. Jenni is a 31-year-old nanny from North Ridgeville, OH.

"Strangers" Brittany Aberle and Bernardo Salazar

Brittany is a 22-year-old hair stylist from San Jacinto, CA. Bernardo is a 27-year-old teacher and Chicago Bulls dancer from Chicago, IL. (no photo available)
