NBC has announced that it has ordered The Sing-Off, a new Clash of the Choirs-like reality singing competition featuring a capella groups.

The Sing-Off will feature a cappella groups performing contemporary songs without the use of any backing tracks or instruments, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.

The winner of the eight-week series will receive a recording contract through Sony Music, according to Variety.

"To hear these singing groups recreate a popular song with only the sounds of their voices is truly amazing," new NBC reality programming chief Paul Telegedy said.

The Sing-Off will be produced by Outlaw productions and Sony Pictures Television, with Joel Gallen, Deb Newmyer and Sam Weisman serving as executive producers.
