NBC to air 'America's Got Talent' third-season finale on October 1

NBC's America's Got Talent is the summer's top hit, but its third-season finale won't air until the fall season.

The network has announced America's Got Talent's third-season finale will air Wednesday, October 1 at 9PM ET/PT.

America's Got Talent's third season premiered in June and has since been airing audition episodes in the Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT time slot.

However due to NBC's coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing beginning August 8, America's Got Talent will take a brief hiatus, with its final pre-hiatus episode airing Thursday, August 7 at 9:30PM ET/PT.  The last pre-Olympics episode will feature the season's Top 40 semifinalists being revealed.

America's Got Talent's third season will then return August 26, with performance episode broadcasts airing Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT and results shows airing on Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT until the October 1 finale.
