Martha Stewart back in Fortune's 50 Most Powerful Women list

UPI News Service, 11/01/2005

Martha Stewart has been making up for lost time in the months since she finished her sentence for lying to a grand jury about a stock sale.

Stewart lost her spot on Fortune magazine's 2004 list of the 50 most powerful women in business, but less than a year after getting out of prison and freed from house arrest, Stewart, 41, is back on the list at No. 21, the White Plains (N.Y.) Journal reported Tuesday.

Stewart shed her ankle tether officially ending her penalty phase in August and since then, has launched the syndicated TV talker "Martha" and her NBC primetime series "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart." And her reputation is no worse for wear as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. continues to use her name to promote everything from pillowcases to recipes, the newspaper noted.

Fortune's complete list of the 50 most powerful women is in the Nov. 14 issue due out on stands next week.
