"I don't know why it took me so long to recognize where I knew him from! Like, it literally took an hour," Kate said with a laugh, shrugging her shoulders, on Tuesday night's Married at First Sight: Unfiltered broadcast which aired after Season 8's second episode.

During the second episode of Married at First Sight's eighth season, Luke was shown recognizing his bride "immediately" as she walked down the aisle.

Kate, however, did not recognize Luke in return, which surprised the groom considering he said they had just met three weeks prior to their wedding day. (All of the singles this season were based in Philadelphia).

During their first conversation as man and wife over a couple glasses of champagne, Luke reminded Kate they had previously met, and after a moment of hesitation, she repeated in astonishment, "Oh my God!"

The newlyweds had met briefly at a speed-dating event Luke was running and Kate attended simply to support a single girlfriend.

On Unfiltered, host Jamie Otis kicked off the conversation with Kate by saying, "Okay, first of all, this is the first time this has ever happened on Married at First Sight... How well did you guys know each other? Did you talk? Did you hit it off? Were you attracted to him? Was he attracted to you? I have so many questions!"

"My roommate Megan was going to some of his events," Kate replied, "and she was like, "Alright, you may be getting married, but just come out to one because you might not be getting married. Just come with me.'"

"So I went and Luke was running it. We talked a little bit, but I just wasn't in the mindset to be looking at other guys, so I just kind of forgot it was him."

When asked to divulge her first impression of Luke at the speed-dating event, Kate revealed, "Very charismatic."

"The people that ended up at the speed-dating event, we weren't really into the guys," she said.

"And so all of the girls were in the bathroom and my roommate was like, 'Yeah, but that guy Luke running it is really cute!' And I was like, 'Oh, okay!'"

Kate admitted, "I did [think he was cute too], yeah!... But I just wasn't really looking."

Pastor Calvin Roberson, one of the Married at First Sight experts who matched each couple, admitted his "mind [was] still blown" over the coincidence.

Pastor Cal assured Jamie the Married at First Sight experts had no idea Kate and Luke had previously met.

"Had we known they had met, we would have disqualified them," Pastor Cal confirmed.

"We don't want anyone that knows each other. I mean, you're getting married at first sight! We don't want 'married at second sight,' but of course there's no way to tell that [Kate] had gone to a speed-dating event while she's engaged!"

"I was not engaged at that point!" Kate playfully argued. "You didn't tell me [about my casting yet]. I just had a feeling."

Following their initial meeting at the speed-dating event, Luke emailed Kate asking her to participate in a future event -- but she did not respond given Lifetime had finally informed her that she would be getting married to a stranger.

Luke therefore appreciated the fact Kate did not respond to his email, because little did he know at the time he would be her husband!
