Lauren Conrad is embracing her post-baby body and starting to get back into the swing of things after welcoming her first child with husband William Tell.

The former The Hills and Laguna Beach star gained 35 pounds while pregnant with her son, Liam James, and she's looking forward to slowly getting back into shape.

"I'm going to wait a few weeks obviously and wait until I get the okay from the doctor, but I'm excited to get back into it. I'll see what my body is ready for," Lauren, 31, told People.

The fashion designer and author just gave birth to her baby on July 5, so she doesn't "feel the pressure" to lose weight.

"I'm in a wedding in a month and fortunately we're doing the bridesmaid dresses so I can order several," Lauren explained. "I have no idea what my body is going to be, I don't know what shape I'm going to be."

But Lauren is proud of herself and the way she looks right now. While she's excited to get back into the gym, she's definitely not ashamed of her size.

"I just made a person. It's fine. And there are always things you can do to make yourself feel better," Lauren said.

"Spanx exist for a reason. I'm trying to focus on things that are positive -- like, I've never had boobs before, so I'm going to try those on for a little bit. I'm trying on a new shape."

Lauren revealed that she enjoys "really simple food" right now, such as red meat, but while she was pregnant, she had some funny cravings.

"I had a hamburger for breakfast the other day! When I was pregnant, I ate a lot of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches on sourdough," the former reality TV star noted.

"Most nights, we do chicken, rice and salad. We do a lot of stuff on the grill. But for three or four months, I couldn't do any chicken, so it was kind of hard to figure out what to eat besides that. Poor William was like, 'I don't know what to feed you!'"

Lauren said she craved "carbs and cheese" when expecting her baby.

"William said I ate like I lived in a roller rink. I wanted kid food. That's all I wanted. Macaroni and cheese," she added.

Lauren told People that she and William will "probably have two" kids total because "it's best not to be outnumbered."

One child on her plate is enough for now though, as Lauren is getting back to work while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood.

"I just emptied my inbox. Everybody is kind of leaving me alone, which is really nice, but I like to be busy. I'm working on my Kohl's line, selecting prints and quick back-and-forths. And I have a work call today for a spring fitting," Lauren admitted.

"I think it's good," Lauren said of balancing work with her home life. "And we have family close who are here every day and they want to hang out with [Liam], so I have a couple hours. I think it's nice to shift into work mode, and then you get to come back and be so excited."

Lauren revealed on New Year's Day that she and William, 37, were expecting their first child together. She got pregnant a little over two years after tying the knot with William in a wedding on the California coast.

The former reality TV star and William, a graduate of the University of Southern California law school, wed in September 2014. The pair got engaged in October 2013 and began dating on Valentine's Day 2012.

However, Lauren previously admitted she had her eyes set on William long before they sparked up a romance because she was a fan of his band, Something Corporate.
