'Laguna Beach' teen Kristin Cavallari may take Jessica's 'Dukes' role

Former MTV star Kristin Cavallari was linked with singer/actress Jessica Simpson's ex-husband, and now she may be taking over Simpson's film role too.

The former "Laguna Beach" star is being considered to play the role of Daisy Duke, created by Simpson on the big screen, in producer Bill Gerber's prequel to the "The Dukes of Hazzard," People magazine reported Friday.

Gerber told People Cavallari, 19, is "at the top of the list" for the young Daisy Duke role.

"I like her innocence and her beauty," he said, adding Simpson, 25, would be too old for a prequel, which will feature a "whole new cast."

People noted Cavallari was linked for a time with Simpson's husband, Nick Lachey, after Simpson and Lachey announced their separation.
