Kristin Chenoweth to serve as 'American Idol' auditions guest judge

By Christopher Rocchio, 08/28/2009

Kristin Chenoweth is reportedly ready to take on one of her toughest roles yet: filling in for Paula Abdul.

The former Pushing Daisies actress and original cast member of Broadway's Wicked will serve as a guest judge during American Idol's upcoming ninth-season audition in Orlando, People reported Thursday.

In addition to her aforementioned roles, Chenoweth also performed a solo sold out concert at the Metropolitan Opera House in 2007 and won a Tony award for her performance in the musical You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Earlier this month Abdul used her Twitter page to announce that she would not be returning as a judge for Idol's ninth season.

While Idol is not expected to begin its semifinals performance shows until late February, a series of guest judges have replaced Abdul at the ninth-season callback auditions, which are currently being held.

Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris have already served as temporary judges during audition callbacks, while Shania Twain and Katy Perry are scheduled to guest judge upcoming callbacks.

Chenoweth's only previous relationship with reality television happened about five years ago when she went on a date with Survivor host Jeff Probst.
