According to a source, Disick decided to keep the party going instead of going home and confronting a bad situation head on, People reported.

"He wouldn't go home, even though people told him to go home to [Kourtney] and his family," the source told People. "Things were already very tense between him and Kourtney."

Disick, 32, reportedly made "one excuse after the other" to Kardashian, 36, insisting he needed some time.

"He said, 'I just need to stay away for another day to think things through,' or, 'I already have my flight planned.' The truth is, Scott was terrified," said the source. "He was afraid to go and talk to Kourtney because he gets freaked out by confrontation. He should have gone home days ago, and he knew it."

Reports surfaced Monday that Kardashian and Disick split over Fourth of July weekend after nearly a decade together.

Disick was photographed getting touchy-feely with Bartoli, 25, in Monte Carlo after, according to E! News, spending a month away from home. Disick was caught caressing Bartoli's head and back, and she was shown feeding him pasta right off her fork.

Kardashian was taken aback and completely shocked by the pictures of Disick with Bartoli, TMZ reported. She allegedly thought they were working out their issues and infidelity had never been a problem between them.

Although Disick's reckless actions and partying habits have destroyed his relationship with the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star -- and the mother of his three children Mason, 5, Penelope, 2, and Reign, 6 months -- Disick is "not in a place to apologize," added the source.

"He knows 100 percent what he has done and the damage he has caused. He's not blind to that. But he doesn't want to face it."

Disick reportedly left the South of France only to travel to Miami, FL, next. Kardashian remains in their Los Angeles home.
