Khloe Kardashian's relationship with rapper French Montana may be over.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is taking a "break" from Montana after eight months of dating, Us Weekly reported Wednesday.

"They are on a break," a source told Us. "The relationship got too heavy and Khloe needed to take a step back... She just wants time apart from him."

"[He was] needy," another source added. "It grated on her that he became so dependent on her."

Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom, her husband of four years, last December following repeated reports he had a devastating addiction to crack cocaine and cheated on her multiple times.

She began dating Montana shortly thereafter, however her family reportedly never approved of the relationship.

Kardashian's sister Kim Kardashian and stepdad Bruce Jenner were "very skeptical" that Montana was only interested in dating her for publicity, according to Us, and her mother Kris Jenner reportedly also "did not approve and told Khloe all the time."

Last month, Montana did an interview in which he openly admitted he was hoping to "capitalize" on Kardashian's popularity, however she had insisted his comments didn't concern her.

"It's amusing to me that Y'all think I don't see it. I was the first one to see it. I just don't care," Kardashian tweeted after her followers pointed the interview out to her.
